EMPTY

I made the bed I washed the cup I opened every window But nothing opened up The morning came The light got in I watched it cross the table Then disappear again I don't know what I'm missing I don't know what to say I only know the silence Has been getting in my way There's nothing wrong But nothing feels right I sleep through the morning And wake through the night I'm not falling apart I'm not doing fine I'm just somewhere in between The days I leave behind And everything is empty Though everything's still here I took a walk I bought some bread I almost called somebody Then went back home instead The flowers grew Beside the stairs I stopped to look a moment And wished that someone cared There's no one I can blame for The way the hours go Some days I feel so little Some days I just don't know There's nothing wrong But nothing feels right I sleep through the morning And wake through the night I'm not falling apart I'm not doing fine I'm just somewhere in between The days I leave behind And everything is empty Though everything's still here Maybe I don't need an answer Maybe I just need some time Maybe there's a way of living Without knowing why I don't need the world to change Or someone to appear I just want to feel a little Of what I used to feel There's nothing wrong But nothing feels right The sun is on the window And the room is full of light I'm not falling apart I'm not doing fine I'm just trying to be here One ordinary night And everything is empty Though everything's still here I made the bed I washed the cup Tomorrow I'll get up
