The Bird Who Wanted to FlyThe Bird Who Wanted to Fly (날고 싶었던 새)

There was a little bird Who woke before the dawn He watched the morning clouds And wondered where they'd gone He knew the sound of rain He knew the old oak tree He knew the little path That wound beside the sea Every morning came and went Just the same as yesterday He never saw the distant world But never asked the way Oh, he wanted to fly He wanted to fly Beyond the morning light To follow where the blue sky Disappeared into the night He didn't know how far The open sky could be He only knew the wind Was calling quietly One day he found a feather Lying underneath the tree He wondered if it once had known A place he'd never seen He carried it for days Then left it in the rain And when the wind came back around He heard his name again Every branch had held him close Every road had felt so safe But something in the evening wind Was pulling him away Oh, he wanted to fly He wanted to fly Beyond the morning light To follow where the blue sky Disappeared into the night He didn't know how far The open sky could be He only knew the wind Was calling quietly One morning there were clouds He'd never seen before The sea looked like a mirror And the wind began to roar He opened up his wings But didn't move at first He looked back at the old oak tree And wondered which was worse To stay where he was known Or leave without a map To lose the little world he knew And never find it back So he started to fly He started to fly Beyond the morning light He followed where the blue sky Opened into something bright He didn't know how far The open sky would be He only knew the wind Had been waiting patiently There was a little bird Who woke before the dawn He watched the morning clouds And finally followed on...
